Candidate Statement:
I’m a native Washingtonian and resident of Monroe since 2003. I’m married (13 years) with two beautiful children of ages 9 (girl) and 5 (boy). I hold a Bachelors Degree in Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences from the University of Washington and a MBA in technology management from the University of Phoenix. My professional career includes serving in a variety of different technical and managerial leadership positions in the communications industry. I have lead through technology advances that have completely changed how we do business and have successfully lead teams through two of the largest industry merger/acquisitions in the country. Outside of work I love volunteering in any program that involves my children. Community involvement includes board positions with the Monroe YMCA, Snohomish First Presbyterian Church, and Northwest Plus Credit Union where I have served as the Vice Chairman since 2007. I feel that with the challenges facing Monroe at this time we need strong informed leaders that are not afraid to question the status quo. Through my personal, professional, and voluntary experiences over the last 15 yrs I feel that I have the knowledge today to step in to provide this needed style of leadership.

Current City Issue Discussing On Facebook
LAKE TYE WAKE BOARD PARK: POSTED 10/18/11
Just came home from the City Council meeting tonight which included a public hearing on the proposed Wake Board Park at Lake Tye. If you are not aware of this project please read up on the proposal that is available on the city's website ( I have included the link). The council needs more public feedback from Monroe Residents. Email them directly and/or show up to next week's council meeting to... voice your opinion on this issue. I'm concerned about the timelines on this proposal (Mayor/City Staff are looking for direction to proceed so that they can try to maintain a timeline that would put the openning of the park proposed for June of 2012) and was encouraged to hear some council members tonight step-up questioning the speed at which this initative seems to be progressing without significant public input on this public/private venture.
Personally I'm conflicted about the project as I do feel that there could be some benefit to the City both from a revenue perspective and community activity for many local/surrounding residents. I also could see myself and my family using the new facility since we are active watersport enthusiasts. However being an avid fisherman I can't ignore (I do admit I have not fished Lake Tye) how I would feel if someone told me I could not fish my favorite location all of a sudden during certain hours in the public park I pay taxes on. I'm sure there are some that would fall in this category and I don't think they even know that Council is considering this proposal. That combined with concerns about parking, impact on residents closest to the park, and issues with the current terms of the agreement (like the lack of flexibility in a 25 yr lease agreement) puts me in one place of certainity on this issue. Council needs to direct staff to adjust the timeline and look at this opportunity beyond a start date of June 2012 and quite possibily for the 2013 calendar year. That would give ample time to get appropriate feedback from the public on this specific proposal and provide time to evaluate if this opportunity is the showcase venture that we (The City Of Monroe) want to lead with in our first step into the adventure sports theme that Sky Valley seems to be gravitating to as a whole.
Would love to hear thoughts on this.
